During the night, Russian missile and drone strikes have resulted in electricity outages in multiple districts of Ukraine's capital, the Ukrainian capital.
A number of civilians were wounded while inhabitants in eastern districts were experienced blackouts and encountered interruptions to drinking water, as stated by local authorities.
At the same time, a minor was killed in a different assault in the Zaporizhzhia region in the southern area, according to regional authorities.
Moscow has escalated attacks on electrical systems over the past few days, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "substantial measures" from international partners to exert influence on Moscow.
"What's needed is not window dressing but firm measures - from the America, Europe and the major economies - in delivering defensive weapons and enforcing sanctions," was stated in a social media post.
Authorities reported that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and several dozen missiles targeted the country's power systems, describing such assaults as "cynical and calculated" and against "essential services" as temperatures become colder.
Energy officials said Russia was "inflicting a massive strike" and technical staff were laboring to restore power.
A wave of strikes struck electrical systems and civilian homes in Kyiv.
Five out of the nine people injured in the attacks on the city have been transported for medical care, per statements from local officials.
Area administrators said the city came under intense attacks throughout the evening. A young boy died and several individuals were injured.
The attacks follow evenings of air raids in the region, sections of which are currently controlled by Russian forces.
All of Ukraine is under warning for advanced weapon attacks, which are tougher to spot.
Government officials told the media that Moscow was deliberately attempting to demolish the national power system, with assaults already impacting gas facilities.
Authorities confirmed utility staff and officials were bracing for additional strikes.
